It may not look like much...

...but this is $5200 worth of damage right here:

Notice the missing Toyota badge front and centre. I retrieved it from the road, and am planning to turn it into a kick-ass belt buckle.

It's going to take about two weeks to repair. I had the good fortune to be left without a car just as my parents were heading overseas, so as of tonight I now have a car to drive for a few weeks. Still my experiences taking the train to work have been positive - I got to read the launch issue of mX, the new News Limited afternoon tabloid; and I got to travel with teenagers. There's nothing like eavesdropping on the chatter of a dozen schoolgirls and boys to make you realise you've officially reached "old". When you hear three 15-year-olds talking up the benefits of dating a 19-year-old because they're more "ma-chew-ah", you know it's time to start shopping for cardigans.

  2. $5,200 for that! Ouch, when my car got smashed back in 2001, only the headlights were damaged and it was worth $1,600 in repairs..what is the world coming to. Funny how things work out to your benefit.

Anyway, I look forward to talking to you in the next few days!

  5. Ahhh welcome to the old lady club!

For a while there I was one of the few people in my circle of friends who was going to as many 21sts as 50ths... I think the tides are turning though.

BabyCakes is younger than me... so I figure that I'm entitled to take a couple of years off my age!!

Car bingles are always ouchy... it's better to have insurance than not. BabyCakes influence has meant that I can now kinda see how that damage equates to 5k....kinda.

P.S. I've got some great cardies you can borrow if you like ;)

  6. (i wish i was dating a 19yr old...)

u do realise that removing a car badge to use a belt buckle accounts for 80% of the liverpool economy (although that said, 80% of the time they take the car as well).

$5G worth of damage! it must be gods way of saying "PIMP YOUR RIDE HOMIE!" - few flat screens installed, rims-a-spinnin on 22s, some nifty suspension so gregor can bop along to snoop dog whilst out cruisin the hood in the low-low rider...
