Possum

After Sunday night's Fists of Fury show, I grabbed my camera to film a lovely wee possum, who was busy rifling through the bins looking for tasty morsels. We often find the courtyard bins knocked over; the local possums are very used to humans (even theatre types) and quite aggressive when it comes to finding dinner.

My recent iLife software update included a new "trailer" function in iMovie, so I played about with it for about ten minutes and created the following work of cinematic genius:

Come to the final Fists of Fury show this Sunday 5 December, and you might see our cheeky possum for yourself.

  1. Possums always scared me, even when we had our own "pet" one, which we could hand feed on our kitchen bench every night. I always had images of them scrambling up my leg and going straight for the jugular. Vampire possum complex.

  5. We have a possum that eats allt he cats food every night. He once could fit throught the porch railing to get away now he has to go around me when I come out and catch him. We were told to just take him down the road a bit, but we just let he stay and get fatter and fatter.

  7. Well, your possums are at least cute - and very different from the ugly, smelly ratlike things we call possums in the united states.

  12. I found your blog today through blogs of note. Been reading it for about 3 hours straight, especially since I have so much down time at my job (which is what my blog is about, I'd love it if you took a look! http://detroitinhighheels.blogspot.com) and I read a couple of entries to a few of the dancers here. Keep writing, we're enjoying it!!!

  14. I must say that the possums in Australia look much better than the ones in the USA. The ones here almost look like ghosts in the face with brown bodies, white faces, rat tails, and black shading around the eyes. Plus they're known to carry rabies so they're not as socially acceptable here. LOL. Oh and congratulations on the blog of note. I just started posting 3 days ago and I'm addicted so I'll defifitely follow you. Good luck on the Theatre thing. :)

  22. Such a different animal than the kind the pilfers cat food from the front porch here in the US. They hiss and have sharp teeth and look a bit rat-like....I try to steer clear

  23. Wow, that possum is kind of cute, actually. Over here, in Utah, we have a different kind of possum. A kind that isn't so cute.

Anyways, I saw your blog under Blogs of Notes and thought your "Bruising Adventures of Girl Clumsy" was such a creative title that I decided to check it out. Not disappointed, either.

  25. Oh how cute! Ours aren't nearly as good looking. Possums and racoons can be such a problem here in the southeastern US that we have to put "locks" on the tops of our trash cans in order to keep our garbage from being scattered all over our neighbor's lawn! It's even worse when you live near a bayou like I do.

  27. Very cute! Everyone else has already snagged the idea that the US Possums are much uglier than the Aussie ones, but I must give my input and agree! I'd like to see a video of a kangaroo, personally (as much as it is so cliche). I'm hopefully going on an exchange program to Australia soon! (:

  30. Really enjoyed the "movie trailer," and can only add my "ooohs" for your possums and "uggggghs" for the U.S. version to those already expressed above.
Congrats on the "Blogs of Note"...that's how I found you.
